Under development: Arriving. Life After Forced Migration. A Participatory Online Exhibition
The first building block of the exhibition is already online: We invite you to use the digital tool “Heimat-Builder” to create your own picture of Heimat and present it in the gallery of the online exhibition: to the Heimat-Builder
The online exhibition will provide a glimpse into the personal stories of people who fled to Germany in 2011/12 and lived for a time in the temporary refugee housing next to the museum. It documents their arrival in Germany and the ten years that followed while also taking a look at the host society. The exhibition asks how politics, media and society respond to refugee protection and immigration. It also includes games, quizzes and workshops to encourage people to reflect on their own experiences and to engage in dialogue about language, privilege, borders and belonging.
The online exhibition is based on the special exhibition of the same name that was presented at the Marienfelde Refugee Center Museum from 2017 to 2019.
